“The Harlem photo was taken in the summer of 2004 at 135th between 7th and Lenox Avenue in Harlem. I had to sneak into the schoolyard through a small hole in the fence, the same as the two kids who I photographed. I did not shoot with a flash, and really didn't know how that moment would be captured as it was getting dark outside. I opened my aperture all the way and shot with 60 shutter speed, and just hoped for the best...”
